APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS

•        Applicants must be full-time students entering junior year at a BEA member college/university in the US

•        Minimum GPA of 2.5 out of 4.0

•        Proven skills in sports production, or technology/engineering

•        Recommendation letter from faculty member (the faculty member must agree to serve as an advisor during the student’s senior year following the internship)

•        Unofficial college transcript

•        Resume and cover letter

•        Reel or portfolio submission (optional)

•        Personal essay

•        Scholars must attend BEA/NAB, CSS, and participate in the internship

 

INTERNSHIP REQUIREMENTS
Applicants will be assigned to an internship for summer of 2016 (before their senior year).  During their internship they will assist with various programming sports projects and documentaries, in all aspects of program production from storyline to final on-air presentation.  The selection committee will take the applicants geographic location needs into consideration when making placements.

 

Production Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Logging and screening video feeds
  • Administrative data input
  • Providing research assistance for on-air talent and producers
  • Assisting production team with pre and post production needs
  • Performing basic production tasks for live and/or edited shows
  • Building graphics elements for on-air graphics as needed
  • Contribute ideas and aid in execution
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays
  • Assist in writing scripts
  • Research story ideas
  • Prepare production materials for edit sessions, gathering videotapes and voice tracks
  • Help with setting up production locations
  • Assist with requesting permissions from schools and sports venues
  • Support the scheduling of crews as needed
  • Other duties as assigned to help facilitate all aspects of production process

 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Ability to attend remote broadcasts, as needed
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail Oriented
  • Familiarity with broadcast television equipment and procedures
  • Self-starter, able to work independently
  • Professional demeanor required
